With an older brother, Viv, who earned accolades as an award-winning press photographer, it was clear to both Viv and the entire family that Mark would inevitably follow a similar path.
"I helped Mark acquire his very first camera when he was just seven years old. As he grew, I was amazed by his transformation into a natural-born, exceptionally talented photographer during his teenage years. His innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life and create stunning images became his signature. Even now, nearly five decades later, I am continually impressed by the consistently high quality of his work."
— The late Viv Boland, Mirror Newspaper Photographer
Mark graced the front page of the Sunday Truth on numerous occasions (see the image on the left). From that tender age of seven, he began honing his photography skills, holding that camera close. While Viv made countless efforts to help Mark "see the light," those teachings were somewhat lost on a seven-year-old. That all changed when, at around 13, Viv introduced Mark to the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, and suddenly, everything clicked into place.
Growing up with four older brothers—one in photography and three as auto electricians—Mark initially set out to follow the path of an auto electrician. He enjoyed working alongside them but found little room for his creative inclinations in the profession. Thus, it came as no surprise when Mark decided to leave the automotive trade and establish Mark Taylor Photography.
For the past 28 years, he has operated under the banner of Clayfield Studio, taking on a diverse range of photographic assignments. Proudly holding the designation of Certified Professional Photographer (C.P.P.) for over two decades, Mark commands respect from his peers in the industry.
If you’re looking for a photographer who is comfortable in the presence of VIPs and government officials, Mark is your go-to professional. He has captured moments with Prime Ministers, Premiers, Lord Mayors, as well as everyday MPs and even rock stars. When it comes to commercial or industrial photography, chances are he’s been there and done that, too.
