With an award-winning press photographer for an older brother, it was apparent from an early age that Mark Taylor was destined to follow a similar path.

Viv Boland—highly respected Mirror Newspaper photographer—helped Mark acquire his very first camera when he was just seven years old. What began as childhood curiosity quickly revealed itself as something far more serious.

By his early teens, everything clicked. Introduced by Viv to the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Mark began to truly see—understanding timing, composition, and the decisive moment. It was a turning point that shaped the photographer he would become.

Growing up with four older brothers—one a photographer and three auto electricians—Mark initially tried his hand in the automotive trade. While he enjoyed the work and the camaraderie, it left little room for creativity. Photography ultimately proved irresistible, and Mark soon left the workshop to establish his own professional practice.

For the past 30 years, Mark has operated under the banner of Clayfield Studio, undertaking a wide range of commercial, industrial, editorial, and portrait assignments. He has held the designation of Certified Professional Photographer (C.P.P.) for over 22 years—a mark of experience, technical mastery, and professional integrity recognised throughout the industry.

Mark is equally at ease photographing VIPs and government officials as he is working with business owners, trades, or creatives. His subjects have included Prime Ministers, Premiers, Lord Mayors, Members of Parliament, and rock musicians alike.
